Sometimes the simplest things—like a blooming pot of color—remind us to pause, breathe, and notice the beauty right in front of us.
Welcome to this week’s Gather & Grace, where we pause to notice the beauty in life’s everyday rhythms—good books, nourishing meals, self-care moments, and gentle reminders to savor what matters. It’s a little space to gather what fills us and give grace where we need it most.
Here’s what I’ve been leaning into this week:
1. A Book That’s Helping Me Reflect
The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman has been a quiet companion on my nightstand. It’s helping me understand how I communicate love—and how others do too. Sometimes we just need a new lens to see the people we love more clearly, including ourselves.
2. A Skincare Routine That Feels Like Peace
For the past three weeks, I’ve been using Primally Pure skincare, and I can honestly say I feel better in my skin—literally and emotionally. Their natural, chemical-free products are so gentle, and they’ve turned my nighttime routine into a calming ritual. It’s a little moment to say: I’m worth taking care of.
3. A Family-Friendly Recipe That Brings Everyone to the Table
One-Pan Baked Ziti
1 lb ground turkey or beef
1 jar of marinara sauce
12 oz ziti pasta (uncooked)
2 cups water
1 cup shredded mozzarella
1/2 cup ricotta or cottage cheese (optional)
Italian seasoning, garlic, salt, and pepper
Brown the meat with garlic and seasoning. Add marinara, pasta, and water. Cover with foil and bake at 375°F for 30 minutes. Stir in cheese, then bake uncovered for 10 more. It’s cozy, simple, and makes enough for leftovers—always a win.
4. A Self-Care Moment Worth Trying
This week, I had my first cryo facial—a refreshing, icy treatment that surprised me in the best way. It left my skin glowing, but more than that, it gave me ten quiet minutes to just be. Sometimes beauty and peace show up when we stop rushing.
5. A Reminder That’s Sitting on My Heart
Let this weekend be soft. Don’t fill every moment. Let grace linger in the pauses. You don’t have to chase joy—it often finds you in the quiet.
This Week’s Gentle Gathering
Take time to check in with yourself. Brew the good coffee. Light a candle that makes you smile. And remember, you’re allowed to rest, savor, and begin again—right where you are.
There’s something about spring that invites renewal—a gentle nudge to step outside routine, embrace curiosity, and welcome fresh experiences. As the days stretch a little longer and the air carries the scent of something new, it’s the perfect time to break away from the familiar and explore something different.
Spring break offers a built-in opportunity for this reset. Whether traveling to a new place, exploring local gems, or simply making small changes to daily habits, trying something new can bring unexpected joy. It doesn’t have to be big or bold—even the smallest shift in perspective can breathe fresh energy into life.
Why Trying New Things Matters
Psychologists suggest that stepping outside of our usual patterns—whether through travel, learning, or even small changes in routine—can increase happiness, boost creativity, and improve memory. When we introduce new experiences, we become more engaged, more present, and more attuned to life’s simple joys.
Ways to Invite Newness into Spring Break and Beyond
1. Explore Somewhere New—Even If You’re Staying Close to Home
Travel often feels like the most exciting way to experience something new, but adventure isn’t limited to boarding a plane. Exploring a different neighborhood, trying a new café, or even taking a different route on a daily walk can add a touch of discovery to ordinary days.
Ideas to Try:
Visit a nearby town or scenic spot you’ve never explored.
Take a drive without a set destination and see where the road leads.
Try a self-guided “walking tour” in your own city—visit a historical site, a new bookstore, or a tucked-away coffee shop.
2. Switch Up Your Daily Rituals
Simple, familiar routines can feel brand new with small adjustments. Changing the way you begin or end the day, swapping your usual coffee for something different, or even rearranging a space in your home can create a sense of refreshment.
Ideas to Try:
Enjoy your morning coffee or tea outdoors instead of in the usual spot.
Try a new way of making coffee—a French press, cold brew, or even adding a new flavor.
Rearrange your bedroom or living space to create a lighter, refreshed feel.
3. Say Yes to Something Unexpected
Sometimes, joy is found in the unplanned. An impromptu day trip, an invitation to try a new activity, or even something as simple as ordering a different meal at a favorite restaurant can bring unexpected delight.
Ideas to Try:
Accept an invitation you might normally decline—go to that event, visit that friend, try that activity.
Let someone else choose your meal at a restaurant and embrace the surprise.
Sign up for a class or workshop, even if it’s outside your comfort zone—pottery, painting, cooking, or dancing.
4. Cook or Order Something You’ve Never Tried
Food is one of the simplest ways to experience something new, and trying a new dish doesn’t have to mean spending hours in the kitchen. Recently, I ordered a HelloFresh meal kit, and it was such a fun way to try new flavors and recipes without the hassle of grocery shopping. Meal kits like HelloFresh, Blue Apron, or Home Chef take the guesswork out of cooking by providing everything you need to make a delicious meal at home.
For anyone looking to expand their cooking skills or break out of a recipe rut, these meal kits are a great way to explore new cuisines, cooking techniques, and ingredients without the overwhelm of meal planning.
Ideas to Try:
Order a meal kit for a fun at-home cooking experience.
Try a dish from a different culture—whether cooking it yourself or ordering takeout.
If traveling, eat where the locals go—skip the chain restaurants and find a hidden gem.
5. Read or Watch Something Different
Most of us gravitate toward familiar genres in books, movies, and shows, but stepping outside that comfort zone can be refreshing. A different style of storytelling can inspire new ways of thinking and seeing the world.
Ideas to Try:
Choose a book in a genre you don’t typically read—historical fiction, memoir, poetry, or a classic.
Watch an international film or documentary on a topic you know little about.
If traveling, pick up a book by an author from the region you’re visiting.
6. Create a Personal Spring Challenge
Setting a simple, low-pressure challenge for the season can bring a sense of fun and purpose to the weeks ahead. It could be as simple as trying a new café every weekend, journaling daily for a month, or learning the basics of a new skill.
Ideas to Try:
Start a springtime “bucket list” with five simple things you want to experience.
Try a 7-day challenge—whether it’s cooking new meals, morning journaling, or taking photos of small joys each day.
Pick up a hobby you’ve always been curious about, even if just for fun.
Conclusion: A Season for Small Adventures
Spring invites renewal—not just in nature, but in the way we approach life. Whether traveling, staying local, or simply shifting small habits, trying something new can awaken a sense of curiosity and joy.
The best part? There’s no pressure. It’s not about grand transformations but about embracing possibility—a fresh perspective, an unexpected delight, or a small adventure that adds just a little more joy to the day.
So as spring unfolds, what’s one new thing you’re excited to try?
There’s something special about embracing the rhythm of simple joys—books that inspire, small routines that bring comfort, and little luxuries that make everyday life feel a bit more special. This week, I’m gathering moments of grace that have added beauty, warmth, and a touch of sweetness to my days.

A Simple Recipe for Busy Moms
Creamy Tuscan Chicken (with leftovers)
This one-pan meal is rich, flavorful, and perfect for meal prepping.
Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 tablespoon olive oil

1 ½ cups fresh spinach
1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for a lighter version)
½ cup grated Parmesan
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Season chicken with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook until golden brown on both sides and fully cooked (about six to seven minutes per side). Remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, sauté garlic for 30 seconds, then add cherry tomatoes and cook until softened.
Stir in the spinach, letting it wilt, then pour in the cream and Parmesan. Let it simmer for a few minutes until thickened.
Return the chicken to the pan, coating it in the creamy sauce. Let it warm through, then serve over rice or pasta.
Leftover Tip: Save extra sauce separately to toss with fresh pasta or use as a base for a quick soup the next day.

Lately, I’ve been loving this easy afternoon iced coffee. It’s smooth, refreshing, and just sweet enough.
How I Make It
Leftover coffee from the morning, poured into a glass

A splash of heavy whipping cream—or whip the cream lightly for a delicious foam topping
A simple joy that makes an ordinary afternoon feel like a treat.
Budgeting & Financial Grace
Cash Envelopes & Sinking Funds – Yay or Nay?
I’ve been thinking more about budgeting intentionally, and sinking funds have been a game-changer—setting aside small amounts ahead of time for things like gifts, car maintenance, or even fun experiences (because joy matters, too).
Cash envelopes? I love the idea for mindful spending, but I also appreciate digital tracking. Maybe a mix of both is the sweet spot.
Are you team cash envelope, or do you prefer a different budgeting method?
At-Home Manicure Love
A Little Self-Care Ritual
I’ve always loved a fresh manicure, but lately, I’ve found so much joy in doing my nails at home. It’s a simple ritual that feels both relaxing and rewarding.

A fresh manicure, whether at home or in the salon, is such a small thing, but it truly lifts the spirit.

To Reflect & Journal
How can I bring more beauty into my daily routines?
What’s one small way I can simplify my spending while still enjoying life?
As we step into the weekend, may we find grace in simplicity, joy in small luxuries, and peace in the routines that make life feel like home.
Soft petals, rich color, and the quiet reminder that beauty is always blooming around us.
March has a way of inviting us into quiet reflection—encouraging a shift toward what truly serves us. This week, I’ve been drawn to simplifying, savoring, and choosing with intention. From rediscovering pieces I already own to embracing a new way of reading, I’ve been reminded that sometimes, the best things are already within reach.
Here’s what I’m loving, learning, and gathering grace from this week.
Reading in a New Way—But Still the Same Love for Books
I have always loved the feel of an actual book in my hands—the weight of the pages, the comfort of a well-loved spine, the way a book lives with you as you move through its story. But recently, I bought my very first Kindle Paperwhite, and to my surprise, I’m really enjoying it.
It tucks easily into my bag, making it perfect for reading a few pages during lunch at work or taking along when I travel. I love how I can highlight passages without hesitation, carry an entire library with me, and never worry about running out of something to read. While I’ll never stop loving real books, I’m finding that this small shift in how I read has only deepened my love for stories.
This book is a guide to setting goals with purpose and creating a life that reflects what truly matters. It’s a reminder that change isn’t about drastic overhauls but about small, intentional steps forward. I’ve been reading a little each day, and it’s already shifting my mindset. Find it here →

A Beloved Magazine for Cozy Moments
Alongside my books, I’ve been indulging in the latest issue of My French Country Home. There’s something special about flipping through pages filled with timeless interiors, soft florals, and slow, intentional living. It’s an invitation to savor beauty—not in a grand, unreachable way, but in the quiet, everyday details. If you love classic European charm, warm kitchens, and dreamy countryside escapes, this magazine is a treasure. Discover the latest issue →
A Capsule Wardrobe Made from What I Already Own
For years, I was someone who bought new clothes each season—chasing trends, adding more, and rarely considering what I truly needed. But now, I’m focusing on a different approach: working with what I already own.
Instead of buying, I’m curating—pulling out the timeless pieces I already love, finding new ways to style them, and appreciating the beauty of simplicity.
Some of the staples I’m reaching for:
A well-fitted white button-down – classic and effortless.
A neutral blazer – versatile and refined.
A pair of dark-wash jeans – never out of style.
A soft sweater in a neutral tone – cozy yet polished.
A structured tote bag – practical and elegant.
I’m learning that less is more when every piece is chosen with care. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by your closet but still felt like you had nothing to wear, try this: shop your own wardrobe. You might be surprised at what you rediscover.
A Shampoo and Conditioner That’s Nourishing My Hair
As I let my hair grow out, I’ve realized it needs more love than it once did. More moisture, more nourishment, and more thoughtful care. I’ve been using a new shampoo and conditioner free of harsh chemicals, and it’s made all the difference. My hair feels softer, healthier, and refreshed—a small but meaningful change.
Welcoming a Houseplant into My Home
Meet Fiona, my small Fiddle Leaf Fig. There’s something about bringing a plant into your space that makes it feel more alive—more settled, more peaceful. Watching Finn stretch toward the light is a simple reminder that growth takes time, but it always finds its way.
If you’re thinking about adding a little greenery to your home, a snake plant, pothos, or ZZ plant are all wonderful, low-maintenance options.
A Slow Cooker Meal That Feels Like Comfort
Some meals make life simpler. This Mississippi Pot Roast (or its chicken version) is rich, savory, and practically effortless. Even my picky-eating daughter (who usually prefers chicken nuggets and pizza!) loves it.
Mississippi Pot Roast (or Chicken!)
1 chuck roast (or 3-4 chicken breasts for a lighter option)
1 packet ranch seasoning
1 packet au jus mix
½ stick butter
5-6 pepperoncini peppers
Instructions:
Place the meat in the slow cooker.
Sprinkle the ranch seasoning and au jus mix evenly over the top.
Add the butter and pepperoncini peppers.
Cover and cook on low for 8 hours (or high for 4 hours).
Shred the meat, serve over mashed potatoes or rice, and enjoy every bite.
The best part? It fills the house with the most inviting aroma, making dinner feel special even on the busiest days.
A Thought to Carry Into the Weekend
Whether it’s choosing to be more intentional with what we own, shifting how we approach reading, or simply savoring the small joys of a slow meal, everything flourishes with care. I hope this week brings you moments of grace, renewal, and simple beauty in unexpected places.
“To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.” – Audrey Hepburn
That’s all for this week’s Gather & Grace—a celebration of thoughtful living, curated style, and small, meaningful joys. I’d love to hear what’s inspiring you this week—what you’re reading, simplifying, or savoring.

A quiet moment, a gentle sway, and the soft whispers of nature—sometimes, peace is found in the simplest places.
Somewhere between the rush of the morning and the quiet settling of evening, I find a moment that is just mine. Not a grand gesture, not an escape—just a small, peaceful pause.
Lately, it’s been this: stepping outside, sinking into the swing by the pool, and letting the air wrap around me like a familiar comfort. The gentle sway, the sounds of birds in the trees, the soft rustling of the breeze—nature’s quiet conversation unfolding around me.
There’s something about these moments beneath the open sky that resets me. The simple act of slowing down, of listening—really listening—to the world moving at its own unhurried pace. The way the sunlight flickers across the water, how the wind carries the scent of something faintly sweet, the grounding presence of the earth beneath my feet.
These small luxuries—these quiet moments of peace—remind me that stillness is a gift. It doesn’t ask for anything in return. It simply invites me to be.
I think we often overlook the beauty in these everyday pauses. But when I pay attention, I realize they are everywhere—in the warmth of my coffee mug in the morning, the hush of dusk settling in, the feeling of soft grass beneath bare feet.
Peace isn’t always found in the extraordinary. Sometimes, it’s in the way the wind stirs the trees, the warmth of the sun on my skin, the steady back-and-forth of the swing beneath me.
Maybe today is a good day to notice the simple joys waiting for you.
“A slow morning, a warm cup, and a little bit of luck to start the day. The best way to begin a Saturday.”
There’s something about a Saturday morning that feels different from the rest of the week. The rush of early alarms, packed schedules, and structured routines fades into the background. Instead, there’s space—gentle, unhurried space—to move at a pace that feels nourishing rather than necessary. I hold onto these mornings, protecting them from plans and obligations whenever I can.
The first light filters softly through the curtains, the world still quiet except for the birds beginning their morning song. I pour my coffee, rich and warm, and settle in—pillows behind my back, soft sheets cocooning me, book or journal in hand. For a little while, there is no to-do list, no urgency, just the simple joy of a slow beginning.
Embracing the Unhurried Moments
Weekday mornings follow a rhythm of necessity—wake, walk the dogs, get ready, start the day. There’s comfort in routine, but Saturdays allow for something different: a slower, more intentional start. These mornings feel like a gentle inhale before the fullness of the weekend unfolds.
It’s in these moments that I find stillness. A sip of coffee that lingers rather than rushes. A few lines in my journal, capturing fleeting thoughts. A stretch in bed before the world calls me to move. These small rituals are my way of pressing pause, of making room for presence before the day truly begins.
The Beauty of a Slow Start
There is something deeply restful about allowing the morning to unfold naturally. No rushing out the door, no immediate demands—just time to savor, reflect, and ease into the day. In a world that often celebrates productivity over presence, choosing slowness feels like a quiet act of self-care.
Maybe for you, a slow morning looks different. A walk in the cool morning air. A chapter of a book you’ve been meaning to read. A quiet moment with a steaming cup of something warm. However it takes shape, these little pauses remind us that life isn’t just about moving forward—it’s about being present, too.
Savoring the Stillness
As the weekend unfolds, the pace may quicken, but the intention of a slow morning lingers. There is beauty in beginning the day with slowness, in making space for simple joys before the demands of life set in. A slow Saturday morning is a gentle reminder: we are allowed to pause, to savor, to just be.
Do you carve out time for slow mornings? What simple moments bring you peace at the start of your day?
Happy Friday, friends! I’m so glad you’re here! I’m thrilled to invite you into this new tradition here on Birdsong & Blessings. Every Friday, we’ll pause together for a moment of joy and gratitude. This space will be a place to savor simple pleasures, share what’s been filling my heart, and reflect on the grace we can find in the little things of life. Whether it’s a book I’m reading, a dish I’ve cooked, a show that’s lifted my spirits, a nurturing touch that’s become a favorite, or a home piece that’s adding peace to my space, I hope this weekly post gives you a little boost of positivity as we head into the weekend. Let’s take a moment to gather, reflect, and find grace in the ordinary.
A Moment to Savor This week, I took an extra moment to enjoy my morning coffee, letting the warmth wrap around me like a hug. In the stillness, I found peace. Life moves fast, but there’s something about a quiet cup that reminds me to slow down and just be.
What I’m Reading Lately, I’ve been revisiting The Road to Le Papillon by Shannon Ables. I’ve read all three of her books and loved them so much that I’m diving back in. This one is structured as a day-to-day guide, and I often find myself reading several days at once. It’s filled with gentle wisdom and reminders that joy can be found in life’s simplest moments. If you’re looking for something to bring a little light to your day, I highly recommend it! I typically read a mix of books—for both wisdom and enjoyment. Next on my list is Liberation by Imogen Kealey, inspired by the true story of World War II’s greatest heroine. I’m excited to start this one, as I’ve always been drawn to stories set during this time period. I can’t wait to share my thoughts with you soon!
Nature’s Blessing Spring is gently making its presence known. This week, I spotted fresh buds on the trees and heard the sweet songs of birds returning, adding their joyful melody to the warm breeze. I’ve also been enjoying a peaceful moment watching the birds dining at the Birdsong Café—what I affectionately call the bird feeder outside my window. It’s such a simple pleasure to see them flitting about, a reminder of nature’s gentle rhythm. I find peace in these little moments, as if nature is reminding me to pause and take in the beauty around me. Nature, in its own way, teaches us the beauty of renewal and patience.
Something to Enjoy Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of watching a couple of shows that really lifted my spirits. The return of Sweet Magnolias for its 5th season was such a treat. It’s a light-hearted series that, while it doesn’t shy away from the characters’ struggles, it presents them in a way that doesn’t feel heavy. The people of Serenity feel like old friends! I’ve also been watching The Chosen, which has been deeply moving and impactful. While it’s an uplifting portrayal of Jesus and His journey with the Apostles, it doesn’t shy away from the immense sacrifice and the challenging moments of His story. It’s an incredibly powerful show that has opened my heart to a deeper understanding of His life, and each episode leaves me reflecting on both His love and the very real suffering He endured. It’s a beautiful mix of inspiration and reverence, and I can’t wait for the next season! Some stories just have a way of deepening our understanding and lifting our spirits, don’t they? What have you been watching lately?
A Taste of Comfort Living in Florida, I usually skip the warm comfort foods like soups and stews, but when we had a brief cool spell, I couldn’t resist making Taco Soup. It was the perfect cozy dish for that rare chilly day, and just what my soul needed. Since my daughter sticks to her chicken nuggets and pizza, this is a solo treat for me, but it’s super simple and comforting if you’re in the mood for something hearty. Here’s the recipe if you’d like to try it! Taco Soup Recipe Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
1 onion, chopped
1 packet taco seasoning
1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 oz)
1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
1 can corn, drained
1 can chili beans (optional)
1 cup beef or chicken broth
1 tsp garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste Instructions:
In a large pot, brown the ground beef (or turkey) with the chopped onion until fully cooked.
Add the taco seasoning, diced tomatoes, black beans, corn, chili beans (if using), and broth.
Stir everything together, add garlic powder, salt, and pepper, then bring to a simmer.
Let the soup simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve with your favorite toppings, like shredded cheese, sour cream, or tortilla chips. Enjoy!
Nurturing Touches As I’m embracing the changes in my skin at 47, I’ve been enjoying a rich face cream that feels like it’s giving my skin just what it needs. With the way my skin keeps evolving, I find myself reaching for more of the good stuff, and this cream is definitely a favorite. It’s amazing how nurturing the right products can feel at different points in life—especially when our skin changes and asks for more care and attention. I’m also trying a new skincare line, but I haven’t started using it yet, so I’ll have to update you soon!
Home & Heart I’ve been adding a few new touches to my space lately. One of my recent additions is a cozy throw blanket for my couch, which is perfect for bringing a little extra warmth and texture to the room. I also introduced a beautiful glass oil diffuser with a refreshing mix of orange, lemon, and mint essential oils. This is new for me, as I’ve always been a candle girl, but I’m really enjoying how this diffuser fills the air with such an energizing, uplifting scent. It’s a lovely change, and the mix of citrus and mint is so recharging.
Grace & Gratitude This week, I was reminded of the beauty in everyday connections. A kind word, a shared laugh, a moment of stillness—these are the real gifts. As we step into the weekend, may we carry grace in our hearts and gratitude in our steps.
I’d love to hear what has brought you joy and gratitude this week—let’s share in these simple joys together.
Thank you for being here!

February has been a month of quiet shifts—some small, some significant, all shaping the rhythm of my days. With Birdsong & Blessings now launched, I find myself paying closer attention to the little moments that bring meaning, comfort, and joy.
This will be a monthly series here on Birdsong & Blessings, a space to reflect on what has filled my heart, what I’m learning, and what’s stirring in my soul. Each month will bring its own musings—some fleeting, some deep, all worth holding onto. I hope you’ll join me in this practice, perhaps even taking a moment to reflect on your own joys and lessons each month.
Now, let’s settle in with a cup of coffee (or tea!) and linger over some February moments together.
1. The Beginning of Birdsong & Blessings
I finally took the leap. Starting this blog has been both exhilarating and a little nerve-wracking, but it feels like home. A space to write, to reflect, to share pieces of this journey. Will anyone read it? Will it grow? I don’t have all the answers, but I do know this—God placed this on my heart for a reason. And that’s enough to keep moving forward.
2. The Beauty of Small Steps
Routines, structure, rhythms—I’ve been leaning into these more. Not forcing them, but gently shaping my days with small, intentional shifts. Mornings feel different when I start with purpose, even if that purpose is as simple as a quiet prayer before the day begins.
3. Decluttering & Creating Comfort
Little by little, I’ve been clearing out what no longer serves me. Organizing, donating, making space—not just in my home but in my mind, too. It’s amazing how a freshly arranged space can make everything feel lighter.
4. A Song That Speaks to My Heart
This month, “Hard Fought Hallelujah” by Brandon Lake & Jelly Roll has been playing on repeat. There’s something about its rawness, its truth. A reminder that faith is often a battle, but a worthy one.
5. Stillness in the Chaos
Not every moment can be peaceful, but I’m learning that stillness is something we carry with us. It’s in the whispered prayers, the deep breaths, the warm coffee in my hands before the world fully wakes up.
6. New Routines, New Energy
Movement in the mornings—it’s a thought that keeps coming back to me. I haven’t fully committed yet, but I feel the pull. Maybe next month I’ll take the step.
7. A Step Toward Simplicity
Less clutter. Less rushing. Less unnecessary noise. This month has been about simplifying—physically, mentally, spiritually. Making room for what matters.
8. Conversations That Stay With Me
A deep talk with a dear friend. Words that didn’t need explanation. The kind of conversation where silence isn’t awkward, just understood. Those are the moments I hold onto.
9. The Power of Adoration
I found myself in Adoration, simply sitting with Jesus. No agenda, no perfect words—just being. And that was enough.
10. A Gift to Myself
Fresh flowers in a few places around the house. No occasion, no reason. Just a small joy, a quiet beauty, a way to bring life into my space.
11. Love Across the Distance
Long-distance love is a lesson in patience, in trust, in finding connection even when miles stretch between us. Some days, it’s a challenge. Every day, it’s worth it.
12. Words That Stayed With Me
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.” – John 14:1 This verse met me at just the right time. Maybe it’s meant for you, too.
13. The Gift of Writing
Writing has been a place of peace for me this month. Whether in my journal, on my blog, or scribbled in the margins of my day, words are where I meet myself and God.
14. Embracing the Seasons
Instead of decorating for every holiday, I’ve been shifting toward decorating for the season itself. A slower, simpler approach that feels more in tune with the rhythm of life.
15. Musing on Purpose in Planning
I’ve been thinking a lot about sinking funds. Planning ahead, giving every dollar a purpose before it’s spent. There’s something in this that feels more peaceful, less reactive. What do I want to prepare for? How do I want to shape my finances with intention? These questions are still unfolding.
16. Looking Ahead
March whispers of spring, of new growth, of fresh air and longer days. I feel the pull toward planting flowers, toward leaning into light and warmth, toward welcoming what’s next.
That’s February’s edition of Birdsong Reflections!
This will be a monthly post—a space to reflect, to gather thoughts, and to share the little things that make life meaningful. I’d love for you to join me in this practice, whether here in the comments or simply in your own quiet moments.
What stayed with you this month? What are you carrying forward into March? Let’s walk into this new season together.
It’s the smallest things that bring the deepest comfort—a warm cup of coffee cradled between tired hands, the soft glow of candlelight dancing against the walls, the familiar melody of a favorite song playing low in the background. Life’s little luxuries aren’t grand or extravagant; they’re the everyday moments that whisper this is enough.
This week, I’ve been savoring…
✨ The soft rhythm of rain against the windows—a quiet lullaby that slows the world down, inviting reflection, rest, and deep exhales.
✨ Freshly ground coffee with lots of cream—the scent filling the air before that first slow sip, the kind that soothes, awakens, and somehow feels like a small act of love.
✨ Candlelit evenings with a book in hand—the flicker of warmth making everything feel softer, cozier, a quiet world away from the noise of the day.
✨ Handwritten notes—the scratch of pen on paper, a love letter to the past, a tangible thread that connects hearts across time.
✨ The scent of fresh linens and a tidy space—a simple kind of peace, like a deep breath for the soul.
✨ A message or a voice on the other end of the phone—even across miles, even when words feel few, the sound of someone you love reaching across the distance is its own kind of warmth.
These aren’t lavish things, but they are beautiful things. The kind that ground us, bring us back to the moment, and remind us that joy isn’t found in the big, unattainable dreams but in the simple, fleeting wonders of everyday life.
A few tiny treasures to savor this week:
A warm bath or shower with your favorite scent.
Playing music that makes you feel light and happy.
Adding fresh flowers or greenery to your space.
Writing down three things you’re grateful for today.
Taking a deep breath and simply being in this moment.
What little luxuries have brought you joy this week? ✨
Hello and welcome to Birdsong & Blessings! This space is an extension of my very imperfect life—a place where I can share the highs, the lows, and the little moments that have shaped me into who I am today. Life is a journey full of twists and turns, and through it all, I’ve found that gratitude, faith, and a good cup of coffee are what keep me grounded.
As a single mom raising a teenage daughter, I’ve had my fair share of struggles. There have been moments of loss that left me questioning everything, but there has also been love, healing, and the hope that the Lord has always been with me, guiding me through each season. I’ve learned that no matter how hard things get, there is always something to be thankful for—even if it’s just a quiet moment or a reminder that tomorrow is a new day.
I’ve also discovered the joy in simple things: the sound of birdsong in the morning, the way flowers bloom even after the harshest of winters, the peace found in a good book, and the comfort of a warm cup of coffee. These little blessings have a way of soothing the soul, and I’m so excited to share them with you here. Whether you’re walking through a tough season or simply looking for a little inspiration, I hope this blog can be a reminder that we are never alone.
Through my words, I’ll share the lessons I’ve learned along the way—lessons that come in both the biggest and smallest moments of life. The importance of slowing down, finding peace in the simple things, and living with intention. I’ll also share the beauty of faith and how it’s woven into every part of my journey, from the struggles to the triumphs, from the love I know to the lessons I’m still learning.
Join me in embracing the chaos and the calm, the challenges and the joys. Let’s walk this imperfect, beautiful journey together.
And as always, I’ll leave you with a little reminder to find something to be thankful for today—no matter how hard it might seem. You’ll be amazed at how the smallest blessings can bring the greatest joy.
