✨ Practice Slow Joy
Cook a recipe that requires time. Read a novel instead of a highlight reel. Journal a page by hand. Activities that demand patience strengthen our capacity for it.

In scripture, waiting is never idle—it’s faithful. “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him.” (Psalm 37:7)

The heart of waiting is trust—trust that what is unseen is still unfolding. Trust that what is becoming will be worth the pause.

Tomorrow, when you find yourself waiting—at school pickup, at your desk, in a season of unanswered prayers—don’t rush to fill the silence. Instead, lean into it. Let waiting become a teacher instead of a thief.

Finding Joy Again: How God Restores What You Thought Was Lost

I didn’t always feel joy.

I used to wonder if I ever would again.

Not because my life was especially tragic—but because grief and exhaustion had slowly hollowed out the places where joy once lived. There were seasons I felt numb. Tired. Alone in the very life I’d built.

Now, I do live with joy.

Not because my life is perfect.
Not because I never get into a funk (I do).
But because I see it now. I’ve been trained to look for it:

  • In morning birdsong
  • In my daughter’s laughter
  • In my coffee cup
  • In a hard conversation that leads to healing
  • In a moment of quiet when I thought I had none
  • And in the man I love now—a quiet, steady presence who reminds me that joy can return in the most unexpected way.

My first marriage taught me endurance, grace, and deep faith. It wasn’t easy. There were beautiful moments and real love, but there was also pain and years that wore us both down.
Still, I’m grateful for that part of my story—it shaped me.

And now, after all of it, I carry something new.
A love that came after the storms.
A love that feels like healing.
A love I never thought I’d know.

He is a gift I thank God for. Not to erase the past, but to remind me:
There is always more to the story.

This kind of joy doesn’t cancel the sorrow.
It grows through it.

The moment I step through those doors—whether it’s for Mass, Adoration, a quiet prayer, or even just a minute in stillness—I breathe differently. The weight I’ve been dragging softens. I don’t always leave with answers, but I do leave with peace.

Not everything in life feels clear right now. But I’m reminded that peace isn’t always about having clarity. Sometimes it’s just about being held.

Today, I don’t have a perfect message or a lesson to teach. Just a soft reminder: when you feel untethered, return to the place that anchors you. Maybe for you it’s a garden, a morning coffee, a walk, or a song. For me, it’s the quiet hush of the church.

Lately, it’s been this: stepping outside, sinking into the swing by the pool, and letting the air wrap around me like a familiar comfort. The gentle sway, the sounds of birds in the trees, the soft rustling of the breeze—nature’s quiet conversation unfolding around me.

There’s something about these moments beneath the open sky that resets me. The simple act of slowing down, of listening—really listening—to the world moving at its own unhurried pace. The way the sunlight flickers across the water, how the wind carries the scent of something faintly sweet, the grounding presence of the earth beneath my feet.

These small luxuries—these quiet moments of peace—remind me that stillness is a gift. It doesn’t ask for anything in return. It simply invites me to be.
